PUMA (and previously LEOPARD) has been striving through its service over the past 18 years to minimise the risk to High Value Cargo (‘HVC’) through theft / hijack / handover in transit and has been working on eliminating, as far as is possible, the ‘human fallibility’ factor from our operations through the introduction of new systems, including ‘Artificial Intelligence’ into our processes.  The key objective for this is, wherever possible, a ‘pre-alert’ of a potential theft / robbery / handover is received through various indicators and a loss prevented, or an ‘early alert’ of a potential theft / robbery / handover is received through various indicators and a loss thwarted and / or HVC recovered.

Unfortunately, our input and service alone cannot always prevent a loss through whatever means, hence, our recommendation for a multi-layered strategy to be followed by cargo owners, LSPs, transporters and security escort companies, alike. At the forefront of this is our recommendation for all trucks loaded with HVC to be staged at their point of loading into convoys of a Minimum of THREE and Maximum of FIVE loaded trucks and to remain in their designated convoys until their arrival at their designated delivery destination.

To this end, we have prepared a Goods in Transit Security Risk Management Circular to emphasise the importance of convoy management in transit, together with a glossy summary of the same, together with our recommended security protocols for drivers and escorts assigned to truck convoys under the acrostic ‘CONDOMS’, copies of which we attach hereto. Hard ‘glossy’ copies are available on request.

Please note that it is our intention to share our knowledge and recommendations with all parties interested, whereby we will provide aggregated data on transit ‘hotspots’ / high risk areas and other valuable data, combined with our own experienced intel on different modus operandi used by criminals targeting HVC in transit.  This will be available quarterly, at a price, through our PUMA Quarterly Circulars (‘PQC’) with much more valuable data for LSPs and cargo owners / traders.
